Research Call 2022

With the UPO Research Call 2022, issued with RD no.2136 of 23/12/22, the University sets out to foster the creation of coordinated projects involving young researchers in order to offer them support in the initial stage of research activity of original projects, and help them acquire the independence that allows them to participate in the international research network.
The aim of the University is also to promote participation by research teams in the action of the Research Framework Programme “Horizon Europe: the first Pillar”, with particular reference to the Marie-Sklodowska-Curie actions and the Calls of the European Research Council.
The research team leaders of the funded projects must make a proposal for a Call in the first Pillar of the Horizon Europe Programme, as coordinator or partner.
The Call is co-funded by the “Fund for promotion and development of the National Research Programme” (MD 737 of 24/09/2021) and sponsorship from the Compagnia di San Paolo – Multi-year Agreement 2022-2024.

Method of presentation and evaluation criteria

Applications should be presented by the PI via the portal  https://pica.cineca.it/uniupo  between 5pm of 23/12/2022 and 5pm of 13/02/2023.

Proposals must be completed by applicants according to the procedure laid out in Attachment 1.
Funding applications may be made by teachers and researchers at the University (also on fixed term contracts) in their role as Principal Investigator. They must be under the age of 43 at the time of publication of the Call.
The PI can coordinate a research group composed of teachers and researchers at the University (also on fixed term contracts) in the same department as the PI and/or different departments.
The research group may comprise a maximum of 5 researchers, including the PI.

All researchers in the research group, including the PI, may put their name to one project proposal alone.
The assessment of applications is coordinated by an Evaluation Committee, nominated by Rector’s Decree.
The Evaluation Committee is composed of 5 members, one of whom acts as Chair. The members are chosen among teachers and researchers (also on fixed term contracts) from the University of Eastern Piedmont who are not participating in the research groups in question.
To evaluate the research projects, the Committee will avail itself of anonymous external reviewers at the University, selected via the database REPRISE (https://reprise.cineca.it), on the basis of ERC sectors and keywords stated in the project.
