Achievement of the degree

By a date established by the Doctoral Coordinator, after the end of the last year of the course (31 October), the doctoral student presents the thesis to the Academic Board.

The Academic Board, with a specific resolution and following a proposal from the supervisor, authorises the candidate to submit the thesis to two assessors (external to the University and to the Board itself).

The two highly qualified assessors are proposed by the supervisor, and appointed by resolution of the Academic Board.

Within 30 days of receiving the thesis, the two assessors express a written analytical opinion on the thesis, with a proposal for admission to public discussion or the postponement of the discussion (for a period not exceeding six months).

The Course Coordinator presents the evaluation of the assessors to the competent office of the University, with the admission to the final exam, for each individual doctoral student and communicates the date, time and place of the final discussion, as well as the names of the members of the Examination Committee proposed by the Doctoral Board for appointment by the Rector.

Before the final viva, the PhD student must send a copy of the thesis to the relevant office of the University and to each of the members of the Examination Board.

The viva takes place before the Examination Board appointed by the Rector.
