The Doctoral School is the body that coordinates the research doctorate courses, and manages the common activities of activated courses.

It aims to promote excellence in research doctorate courses, through the definition of objectives, methods of operation and criteria that ensure their scientific quality and professional usability.

It represents the point of reference for the University's interdisciplinary activities in the field of advanced doctoral education, and is a point of convergence for scholars of different disciplines, promoting seminars, conferences and other activities of an interdisciplinary and extra-curricular nature with respect to the programmes of the PhD courses. It also aims to encourage interactions and exchanges with other Italian and foreign universities, as well as with corporate and local entities, in order to develop collaborations aimed at encouraging the acquisition of advanced skills by doctoral students.

The School comprises the Director, the Assistant Director and the School Council.

The Director of the School is identified as the Delegate for Scientific Research, and the Assistant Director as the Delegate for Teaching. The School Council is made up of:

  • the Director who presides over it
  • the Assistant Director
  • the Coordinator of each active doctoral course
  • the person responsible for the curriculum, in the event that the doctoral course is divided into different locations of the University and/or in different curricula
  • a university professor participating in the PhD courses in associated form with administrative headquarters at another University
  • a representation of doctoral students equal to one third of the active doctoral courses, and in any case by at least one representative.
