An annual appointment, usually at the Teatro Civico of Vercelli, in the period between December and February, this event has enjoyed a strong growth in audience numbers (even sold-out, with over 1,000 people during the 20^th anniversary celebration) and much approval.

While nodding to academic tradition, the UPO version of the Inauguration of the Academic Year is significantly more spectacular, with much celebration at the awards ceremony of the best graduates and university successes.

Maintaining all the elements of the past – the Rector’s speech, talks by the Director-general and student representatives, the presence of an important guest speaker – the Inauguration is, above all, a story, a narrative entrusted to the images and voices of its protagonists.

The Choir and Orchestra of Università del Piemonte Orientale play a key role in the event.

The Inauguration is one of the events and rites that contribute to the sense of belonging to the University, for its internal staff (professors, researchers and technical-administrative) and for the local community.

To widen its public reach, the event is usually streamed on the University YouTube channel and live on Facebook.
