The new Horizon Europe Framework Programme will continue to support academic excellence in Europe with a new mission-oriented approach, characterised by bold goals, ambitious with a strong European bent. A mission is a collection of interdisciplinary actions designed to achieve a bold and measurable goal, with an impact on society and policy-making, which is relevant for a significant proportion of the European community.

The selected missions for the next seven-year period regard 5 topic areas:

1. Adaptation to climate change, including societal transformation

2. Cancer;

3. Healthy oceans, seas, coastal and inland waterways

4. Smart cities and climate

5. Soil health and food
