DSF stands for Dipartimento di Scienze del Farmaco (Pharmaceutical Sciences)
Teaching and research activities: Novara.
The DSF consists of 40 members of staff and over 50 PhD students and postdoctoral fellows. It offers the single-cycle master’s programmes in Pharmacy and in Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Technologies, PhD programmes and a post-graduate school.
The research activities of the Department embrace most levels of pharmaceutical analysis, from the discovery and characterization of novel molecular targets to pharmaceutical delivery.
The multidisciplinary nature of the Department provides a unique opportunity for interdisciplinary research and offers a thriving and enthusiastic environment. There is critical mass for the entire life cycle of drugs, from early pre-clinical activities to regulatory and market access issues, as well as for food chemistry, the discovery of natural products, cancer biology, neurosciences and structural biology.
The Department has three ongoing EU-grants (research on triterpenes, tuberculosis and related drugs), national projects (nanotechnologies for bone development, innovative drugs for the treatment of cancer and Alzheimer's disease), and other programmes funded by banking foundations and other entities.
