The DiSUM offers bachelor’s degree programmes in Arts, Philosophy and Communication, Literature and Foreign Languages; master ‘s degree programmes in Modern, Classical and Comparative Philology, Philosophy, andLanguages, Cultures, Tourism; it also offers postgraduate and PhD programmes.
Its research activities have an excellent reputation, which has been recently acknowledged by Anvur assessments. In the national ranking of universities, it is the sixth best department in the area of Antiquities, philological-literary and historical-artistic studies, the sixth in the area of Social Sciences, and the third in the area of historical, philosophical, pedagogical and psychological studies. In the latter category, the Department is even ranked first in Political Philosophy, in History of Political Doctrines, and in the philosophical/historical disciplines.
The Department coordinates six national projects (the modern and contemporary Italian, Spanish “cancioneros”, biopolitical governmentality, the French theatre of the Renaissance, the Atlas of the European Reason, the processes of civilization in the Enlightenment) and other projects financed by banking foundations and other entities (urban diversity, digital atlas for classical texts, Europe in American history).
