DiSIT stands for Dipartimento di Scienze e Innovazione Tecnologica (Sciences and Technological Innovation)

The DiSIT is one of the top-ranked departments in Italy for the quality of its research. It offers bachelor’s and master’s degree programmes in Biology, Chemistry, Computer Sciences; a bachelor’s degree programme in Science of Materials; postgraduate and PhD programmes.
The Department carries out both basic and applied research in numerous fields, such as environment, materials, food sciences, energy, physics, chemistry, mathematics, aerospace, artificial intelligence, nanotechnology. Life sciences, information technology and physical chemistry have reached levels of absolute excellence in the Anvur assessments.
The DiSIT is the reference centre of the United Nations for the Mediterranean monitoring programs (UNEP-MAP). Five European projects are in progress on genetics and genetic mutations, crystal structures, research on solar cells and photovoltaic systems, biocontrol agents for agriculture, nanoparticles. The Department also runs national and regional projects funded by banking foundations and other entities. It has promoted the constitution of four spin-off companies.
