If you fall into one of the following categories, you may be entitled to exemption or discounted fees – in this event, please contact your Student Services Office.

 

Complete exemption

You will be exonerated from all tuition fees and need only pay the € 16 euro stamp duty for registration. You are entitled to this form of exemption if:

  1. You are registered for the second or subsequent years and are the recipient (or eligible but not recipient) of the E.Di.S.U grant for the academic year 2023/2024. Students registered for the first year who have paid the first instalment and are recipient of an EDISU grant can then ask EDISU for reimbursement of this sum.
  2. You have a certified disability/handicap (in accordance with art.3, para.1 of Italian Law 5 February 1992, no.104) and/or with a registered invalidity level of 66% or more. If the disability/invalidity is permanent, you need simply supply Student Services with the doctor’s certification one time only, when requesting the financial assistance. If there are any changes in your level of invalidity, you must inform your Student Services office promptly. 
    A statement attesting to disability or handicap must be presented to the Student Services Office at the moment of registration/enrolment (failure to do so will annul your eligibility for financial aid/subsidy), along with medical certification. Certificates presented at a later date will only be considered in the event that the Office was informed at the time of registration/enrolment that the application process for documents was underway and that all medical certification would be presented as soon as available.
  3. You are the only caregiver in a household for a person with a disability or invalidity level of 66% or higher (in accordance with art.3 para.1 of Italian Law 5 February 1992, no.104). If the disability/invalidity is permanent, you need simply supply Student Services with the doctor’s certification one time only, when requesting the financial assistance. If there are any changes in the level of invalidity, you must inform your Student Services office promptly.
    A statement attesting to disability or handicap must be presented to the Student Services Office at the moment of registration/enrolment (failure to do so will annul eligibility for financial aid/subsidy), along with medical certification.   4. Amputees and registered disabled persons whose impairment reduces their working ability by more than two thirds and who come from families with low income (proven to be less than €30,000 in an ISEE statement), students with parents who are recipient of disability pension, war orphans, legally blind persons, and amputees/invalids as a result of war, military service or workplace along with their children (Italian Law of 30 March 1971, no. 118 of decree converted into law of 30 January 1971, no. 5, and new regulations regarding amputees and registered disabled persons). 
  5. students with refugee or asylum-seeker status, or who have been awarded international protection, subject to fulfilling one of these conditions:
    • Registered for first year
    • Registered for second year and acquisition of at least 10 academic credits by 10 August 2023
    • Registered for subsequent years and acquisition of at least 25 academic credits between 10 August 2022 and 10 August 2023

Partial exemption

You will be exonerated from payment of the third instalment, paying only the first and second. You are entitled to this form of exemption if:

  1. You have a registered level of invalidity between 50% and 65%. If the disability/invalidity is permanent, you need simply supply Student Services with the doctor’s certification one time only, when requesting the financial assistance. If there are any changes in the level of invalidity, you must inform your Student Services office promptly.
    A statement attesting to disability or handicap must be presented to the Student Services Office at the moment of registration/enrolment (failure to do so will annul the possibility of the financial aid/subsidy), along with medical certification. Certificates presented at a later date will only be considered in the event that the Office was informed at the time of registration/enrolment that the application process for documents was underway and that all medical certification would be presented as soon as available.
  2. You are an inmate student
  3. You have refugee or asylum-seeker status, or have been awarded international protection, and do not fulfil the requirements for total exemption as listed in the previous section
  4. You are a registered victim of organised crime or exploitation, have been injured in the line of duty, or belong to a family with members who are victims of organised crime, exploitation or injuries in the line of duty. The terms are those stated in legislation, and status must be proven in relevant documentation.
  5. You, by 31 December 2023:
  • have completed all course-related exams, as well as placements and extra credit courses
  • require only the final exam in order to graduate
  • are scheduled to graduate in the new academic year 2023/2024

6. you are a permanent employee of the university

Special Exemption for Merit

Students need only pay the first instalment of € 156 and the second instalment of € 10 if they fulfill all three of these requirements:

  1. You are registering for the first year of a Master’s degree (including single cycle)
  2. You have completed the 3-year undergraduate programme according to schedule (pre-established/normal duration)
  3. You have completed the undergraduate degree with a mark equivalent or higher than 100/110.

The special exemption for merit can be awarded only once during a university programme.
