ENGLISH PLACEMENT TEST (EPT)

The University requires matriculated students to take the English Placement Test (EPT) to check their level of English language proficiency.

The English Placement Test is a Macmillan Education online computerized test useful for determining the English language proficiency level of incoming female students.

The Placement test is considered passed if the outcome is B1, B2, C1, or C2 level.

An outcome of A1 level corresponds to an educational debt, to be filled by taking General English CEFR Level A2 and CEFR Level B1 alignment courses.

An A2 and A2+ level outcome corresponds to an educational debt, to be filled by taking the General English CEFR Level B1 alignment course.

For the academic year 2023/2024, the Placement test must be taken by:

• all students enrolled in the year 2023/2024 in one of the Health Professions Degree Courses;
• all students enrolled in the year 2023/2024 in the Bachelor's Degree Courses and Single-cycle Master's Degree Courses;
• students matriculated in the year 2022/2023 to the Bachelor's Degree Courses and Single-Cycle Master's Degree Courses who did NOT take the Placement Test in the year of matriculation or who did NOT pass the required alignment courses.

For the academic year 2023/2024, they do not have to take the Placement Test:

• students who have submitted an English language certification upon matriculation and it has been validated by their Course of Study;
• students enrolled in the year 2022/2023 or earlier, in one of the Degree Courses of the Health Professions;
• students who have taken the Placement test in a previous university career and have requested and obtained its validation by their Course of Study.

ENGLISH LANGUAGE CERTIFICATIONS

Students in possession of certifications attesting to English language proficiency may apply for their recognition for the purpose of exemption from the Placement Test by uploading them during matriculation and by the deadline for the matriculations themselves.

Certifications deemed valid will be visible by interested parties on their transcripts as of January 15, 2024.

Students in possession of certification attesting to language proficiency, thanks to which they obtained exemption from the Placement Test, may also request that the same certification be validated for the purpose of recognition of English Language teaching. 

The request for validation must be submitted to the Student Secretariats according to the procedures and timelines provided by their course of study.

DATES FOR HOLDING THE ENGLISH PLACEMENT TEST 

For the Academic Year 2023/2024, the EPT will be held:

• December 11 to December 15, 2023 for Health Professions Degree Courses;
• From Feb. 5 to Feb. 9, 2024 for all other Bachelor's Degree Courses and Single-Cycle Master's Degree Courses (according to the regulations provided by their course of study).
