The PRIN will apply the strict methodology of Philology of Italian authors to signed codices (or in any case, with the same value and weight as signatures) of some works belonging to genres typical of the Spanish Golden Age; poetry, theatre and religious prose.

In particular, the Vercelli branch intends to study and scientifically reconstruct the original texts of great writers (such as St. Teresa, or the ‘heretical’ Miguel de Molinos) and of lesser-known authors, which are still essential for understanding the period and movement of religious spirituality, mysticism, which had such a huge influence on European thinking.

It will highlight the process of editing and reviewing of these works, entering the writers’ workshops from linguistic and stylistic perspectives as well as the point of view of content and ideology.

PRIN is led by the Università di Napoli Federico II.

The universities of Macerata and Rome La Sapienza are also participating.

The branch of Vercelli and following researchers from other universities are also taking part:

Prof. Olga Perotti (University of Parma), Prof. Marcial Rubio Árquez (University of Chieti-Pescara), Prof. Paolo Tanganelli (University of Ferrara), Prof. Valeria Tocco (University of Pisa)
