N.B. The PCTOs 2020/2021 are still being defined.

The Budget Law of 2019 modified the name of the project “Alternanza scuola-lavoro” (School-Work training) to “percorsi per le competenze trasversali e per l’orientamento”, PCTO (transferable skills and careers guidance). It also stated that the overall length for all types of school should be as follows, as of 2018/2019:

• no less than 210 hours in the final three-year programme of professional institutes
• no less than 150 hours in the second two-year period and last year of technical institutes
• no less than 90 hours in the second two-year period and fifth year of high schools.

As of the academic year 2015/2016, Law 107/2015 sets out to make it systematic and compulsory for all students to follow a methodology designed to increase their transferable skills and provide them with orientation and careers guidance to ease their entrance to the work market.

UPO promotes activities with local schools to this end, underwriting an Agreement with the Regional Education Authority in Piedmont (attached).

Further information: the Guidelines for “Actions for transferable skills and careers guidance” (attached).

How to set up an initiative with UPO

The University Orientation Service gathers information on willingness to participate by university departments, which may activate educational projects by listing them in the Catalogue of PCTO projects.

The link to the Catalogue will be activated when available.

Schools interested in participating can write to the University Orientation Service: pcto@uniupo.it

To activate a project, the school must underwrite an agreement with the University, stating the terms of the educational project in compliance with current safety laws. The pre-prepared University form must be completed, according to the process stated in the section “Steps for school”
