There are many other opportunities to enjoy a study trip abroad, apart from Erasmus+ and Free Mover. There are also many possibilities of funding. For information, we recommend you visit these websites:

Europe

  • European Commission (Grants). A database listing funding opportunities, sub-divided thematically.
  • EURAXESS - Researchers in Motion. This is a portal for researchers, offering access to a complete range of information and support services for those who wish to carry out their work in Europe.
  • DAAD (Deutscher Akademischer Austausch Dienst). This organisation represents German universities abroad and promotes mobility of undergraduates, graduates and PhD students; for study, research and teaching trips abroad; for intensive/summer language courses; funding for study trips; for visiting professors; for conferences and seminars; for work trips, etc.
  • Campus France. This agency provides information on university study in France. It helps you through each stage of the study project: in understanding the French university system, enrolling with your chosen university, and in the transfer. It supplies lists of grants for graduates, PhD students, post-doc researchers; funding for double degrees, co-tutored doctorates, etc.
  • UIF/UFI (Italian-French University). This institution promotes partnerships between universities and scientific research organisations in Italy and France.
  • British Council. This British organisation promotes cultural relations in Italy and worldwide. One section of the website offers practical information on studying in the UK (useful tips, grants and funding, events and seminars).
  • Universidades de España. This website is dedicated to the Spanish university system with tips, useful information and funding opportunities.
  • Swedish Institute. This website promotes higher education opportunities in Sweden, offering grants and funding.
  • OEAD. This Austrian agency organises international partnerships, grants and funding.
  • Švietimo mainų paramos fonda. This Lithuanian foundation implements European and national exchange trips. It offers grants for students, teachers and researchers.

Japan

  • JSPS (Japan Society for the Promotion of Science). This society works to promote and support international scientific cooperation with a series of programmes and initiatives.

USA (Fulbright)

The Fulbright Commission promotes academic collaboration between Italy and the United States, offering grants to Italian and US citizens for study, research and teaching opportunities on the American campus and in Italian universities. The grants are offered for programmes of postgraduate specialisation, research trips and teaching visits at universities and research centres in Italy and the United States.

All Fulbright grants include travel costs between Italy and the United States, and a health insurance policy financed by the United States government.

To be eligible for a Fulbright grant, you must have:

  • a 3-year undergraduate degree, specialist/Master’s degree (or a degree in the old Italian academic system)
  • Excellent knowledge of English language, with TOEFL certificate (Test of English as a Foreign Language) or IELTS certificate (International English Language Testing System, Academic format).
