The Erasmus+ Programme allows teaching staff and researchers to teach abroad via “Erasmus+ Staff Mobility for Teaching".

The aims are:.

  • To allow students who cannot themselves directly access a mobility programme to benefit from the experience and knowledge acquired by teaching staff from other European universities
  • To encourage universities to widen their range of academic programmes
  • To offer teaching staff the opportunitiy for personal and professional development
  • To strengthen links between universities

Requisites for admission to programme:

  • There must be a bilateral agreement with the other university in the Erasmus+ network
  • The teacher must hold citizenship in a EU country or another country participating in the Eramus+ Programme, or be a citizen in another country where they hold a permanent contract with a Higher Education institute.

We are currently waiting for the new programme 2021-2027. Here is some information based on the previous edition (2014-2020):

1. The range of actions and activities offered to promote innovative teaching initiatives is vast and varied. In previous Calls, the programme guides listed: Joint mobility for students, Intensive study programmes, long-term teaching/training positions, short joint training events, etc. There were also references to research activity connected to education.

2. Cooperation is not limited to European universities – non-European universities, companies and associations are also welcome.

  • KA107 – International Mobility Credit extends Erasmus mobility (students, teaching staff, PTA) to non-European universities, offering the possibility of funding for substantial trip/stay costs, and strengthening relationships with universities outside of Europe.
  • KA2 – Knowledge Alliances is dedicated to European university and company cooperative initiatives for innovative higher education; these actions have funded, for example, projects for degree courses aimed at training professional figures required by companies.

In the Guide to the KA2 Programme – Strategic Partnerships – possible activities include: study programmes, individual courses, joint programmes, shared modules (including online modules), the integration of a wide range of teaching methods (distance learning, part-time, module-based), materials and methods useful for learning, training and socio-educational activity, project-based collaboration in educational approaches and tools, peer learning, seminars, virtual laboratories, virtual collaboration spaces, development of skills and creation of networks and cooperation strategy plans, information activity, careers guidance, student surveys, comparative analysis, test creation, real case studies, definition of standards and profiles based on skills/professional profiles, improvement of qualification tables, transfer of credits, quality controls, recognition and endorsement of learning, teaching and training.
