We participate in international networks, formed by groups of universities in the European and Mediterranean regions, aimed at promoting cooperation and the creation of a common framework for higher education.

  • We form part of the EUA: the organisation that represents universities and national rectors’ conferences in 47 European countries
  • We are a signatory university of the Magna Charta Universitatum: a document underwritten by almost 400 rectors and university heads, containing the principles of academic freedom and institutional autonomy as a guideline for good university management in the future
  • We are in CUCS (University Coordination for Development Cooperation): founded in 2008 to strengthen and improve coordination of development cooperation between Italian universities
  • UPO is a signatory of the Manifesto for an Inclusive University, promoted by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). Its main aim is to help refugees gain access to a university education and research opportunities, promoting social integration and active participation in academic life. By signing the Manifesto, UPO is supporting the creation of the “third mission”, promoting the enhancement and use of knowledge in the pursuit of social, cultural and economic development of society.
  • We are a member of the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network - Regional Network of the Mediterranean: a United Nations project involving universities, research centres, civil society organisations, foundations and other institutions with extensive experience in one of more sectors which are linked to sustainable development and steer skills and technical/research work towards identifying and/or implementing solutions for sustainable development.
  • The University has recently joined the European University Foundation, a network of public European universities that aims at accelerating the modernisation process and strengthening of the European Higher Education Area, promoting mobility of high-performing students.
