A great result. The 2025 Winter Universiade will be held in Piedmont, in northern Italy, with the main venue in Turin's and other locations also involving the Eastern Piedmont area. The award came at the end of the morning during the decisive meeting of the FISU (International University Sports Federation), which unanimously rewarded the efforts of Piedmont's internal institutional system, beating Stockholm, the other candidate.
Professor Gian Carlo Avanzi, Rector of the Università del Piemonte Orientale, is enthusiastic about this award, which will also involve the UPO. "It is a great victory that remarks a huge teamwork, the contamination of ideas, which characterise the UPO strategic plan. I have already communicated the wonderful news to CUSPO, the Centro Universitario Sportivo Piemonte Orientale, to the students and to the offices of the University, urging everyone to give their best contribution for the best results to be obtained. The investments for the Universiade will have a consequent spin-off in terms of facilities and university residences, thus allowing us to welcome an increasing number of students who appreciate the didactics of our University".
It is estimated that three thousand participants and two thousand volunteers from all over the world are expected in 2025. Some competitions are planned in Valsesia.
